Reviving Entryways in the Riviera

Done for a long-time client, this scope included a full interior repaint with partial exterior work. A high-caliber finish was executed throughout. New drywall finishes were installed on the walls and ceilings, then fully primed and painted. Existing doors and windows were made to look brand new. Click the color swatches below to find the products we used!

Protecting Your Home

We re-primed the doors and windows to extend the lifespan of the vibrant top coat, helping it withstand salt and strong UV. Double coating provided further coverage against moisture. Read our blog for more tips on how to maintain a home, specifically in coastal conditions.

1820's Cabin Restoration

A Mennonite mansion in Montecito brought all the way from Ohio by Kirk Connally. The life of this building is truly an interesting story, so if you want to learn more about one of the oldest buildings in SB check out our blog! Painting of the exterior was done entirely using hand brushes and rollers, avoiding overspray while ensuring maximum penetration and adhesion of our stain-blocking paint.

Handling with Care

Precision applies not only to our detailed finishes, but to every part of our painting process. We protected the 30-year-old roof shingles by using scaffolding instead of ladders wherever possible. When it wasn't a plausible alternative, foam roof panels were placed underneath to eliminate the risk of damage.

High Gloss Garage Conversion

This is a pique example of a specialty interior. The client, a designer herself, set out to turn their one horse garage into an elegant dining room. We delivered it by Christmas so that she could hold an intimate holiday dinner. While we've worked with high gloss finishes before, especially on cabinetry, this was the largest-scale project we've done in this sheen. Its reflective nature makes it a blast to experiment with lighting.

Color Drenching

This is a design technique where walls, trim, ceiling, and sometimes the door are all painted the same color. Depending on the shade chosen it can create drama, deepen the room, or have a calming effect by removing visual interruptions. By eliminating sharp transitions between surfaces, it puts focus to architectural form and texture.

Powder Room Wallpaper Install

This client in Montecito Ranch supplied us with a gorgeous Candice Olson wallpaper, and we gave her high quality finishes throughout the entire room. Wall priming and installation both took half a day's work- quick turnarounds and flexible scheduling being trademarks of our convenient process. Just one of the reasons we were brought back to paint her home theater and cover repairs from water damage in the guest house.

Preparing for Adhesive

A clean, smooth wall is what you're looking for before applying wallpaper. This provides a strong foundation for primer,  preventing bubbles from forming down the line. First, we sanded each wall. In such a humid area we have to ensure that the wall is even and dry. Taking these steps also decreases damage when the wallpaper is eventually removed.

Style Guide

The Breathless wallpaper collection is a great example of how Olson, a Canadian designer and TV personality, uses organic lines and natural themes to create  "sophisticated yet approachable" spaces.

Eastside Patch-up

What is Skim Coating?

It's the process of applying a watered-down joint compound over cracks or texture inconsistencies to create a smooth surface, and can level uneven drywall seams. This project had both needs after a wooden bulletin board was removed from the wall. The drywall itself had a crack, which is common as your house shifts with the foundation and the frame expands/contracts from humidity. Repairs are essential to avoid moisture gathering within the walls, widening cracks over time, and the need for larger repairs in the future.

The final look was a prime and paint job- we even put a fresh coat on the wooden ceiling beams.

Ramp and Deck Near Elings Park
Old Spanish Door Stain (HOA)

The Alma del Pueblo Homeowners Association manages the Santa Barbara Public Market and many condominiums in the ART district next door. Especially in communal spaces, doors, outdoor benches, and other daily fixtures wear down quickly.  When managing a property you can reduce liability from splintering or deteriorating wood by re-finishing surfaces every 2-3 years.  On this project we sanded, stained, then clear coated everything for long term protection.

Wood Preservation

While natural wood is beautiful and highly versatile as a building material, it can also be vulnerable with a shorter lifespan than metals or stone.  Unlike paint which sits on top of the grain, stains soak in for better resistance against moisture and the UV damage towards the wood's lignin, or binding.

Noleta Trellis and Mineral Finish

For five years, this client has returned to us for services around their entire property.  Our relationship started off with polishing the interior remodel. Then, we painted their garage-turned wine cellar. Until the larger trellis project, we helped continuously with maintenance and minor wood repairs.

Trellis Maintenance

Aside from refreshing the appearance, there are functional reasons to address this large feature in your yard. While most trellises are not primary load-bearing structures, neglected deterioration can be a safety hazard. Over time fasteners can weaken, wood warps, and rot can form at connection points. This is easily maintained with filling, reinforcing or sealing.

Style Guide

We primed their bathroom for pre-colored integral plaster. Lime-wash would recreate this look using transparency and layering. Regardless of technique, both allow the drywall to breath and present a depth of shades once dry. For more comparisons on mineral based finishes, see our blog of pro-tips!

Prepping San Roque

Asset Protection

You aren't just paying for a fresh paint job- you're paying for piece of mind knowing paint will only go where you want it to. Every unit presents a different set of masking challenges including lighting fixtures, staircases, cabinetry and hardware, flooring, and glass. The list goes on. We will make decisions for each case whether that be spraying or hand brushing first, taping off trim first, et cetera, to ensure a clean finish and respected space throughout the entire painting process.

Color Selection

Choosing color is the emotional starting point of any project, and selecting the right paint system or sheen may require technical guidance. Often times eggshell works well on walls, flat on ceilings, and higher-gloss for trim. However, this is always subject to change based on environmental factors. High traffic areas, surface texture, natural vs artificial light, adjacent non-painted materials, are all considerations that we will walk you through. We want you to be confident in your decision, which is why we provide paint samples and mockup portions of the walls before committing to the full application.

Shingles, Siding, Chimney and Brick

This holds a special place in our hearts as one of our first large projects- it was a full exterior job with unique tasks.  We pressure washed the Spanish roof tiles and painted them red. The aged natural brick was also put to this color, creating cohesion throughout. There was major wood repair needed on all of the trellises due to termite damage. We have a team of not just painters, but skilled handymen. Once we completed the repairs we coated the trellises and gates in white to open up the space. If you're thinking of painting brick or need help maintaining wood features around your property, see our post about material upkeep

Power Washing

Before painting, it is important to remove debris that could change the texture of the finished product or prevent new coats from bonding correctly. This can include chalking, mildew, and salt-buildup.  Still, there is a finesse that's required to not damage wood, loosen masonry or drive moisture into the siding. We have that finesse.
