This client has returned to us for years, for services around their entire property. Our relationship started off with polishing the interior remodel. Then, we painted their garage-turned wine cellar. Until the larger trellis project, we helped continuously with maintenance and minor wood repairs. We also primed their bathroom for a mineral plaster finish.
Trellis Maintenance
Aside from refreshing the appearance, there are functional reasons to address this large feature in your yard. While most trellises are not primary load-bearing structures, neglected deterioration can be a safety hazard. Over time fasteners can weaken, wood warps, and rot can form at connection points. This is easily maintained with filling, reinforcing or sealing.
How we did it
-
Protect and prepare the trellis
Areas not being painted were covered against splatter, then every surface of the existing backyard wood trellis was primed with a water-based multi-purpose primer.
-
Patch, sand and caulk
All holes were patched, with small nail holes on top only primed, surfaces were sanded smooth, and open gaps and joints were caulked.
-
Two coats of exterior paint
Two coats of exterior paint in an eggshell or satin finish.
