A deck on a Riviera home had a leak, and Touchstone Builders, the general contractor, repaired the wood. Purple Painting followed with the painting, on a time-and-materials basis.
We scraped away loose, failing paint and patched all of the damaged wood, spot primed the bare wood that was exposed, and block primed the water stains. We then finished the underside of the deck with two coats of exterior enamel in off-white to match the existing paint, so the repaired areas and the old paint look the same.

Scrape, sand and spot prime
Failing and peeling paint was scraped and sanded back, and the bare and repaired areas were spot primed.

Caulk and patch
Seams, joints and the gaps around windows and doors were caulked, and deteriorated spots at window casings and siding were patched.

Spot prime and paint the wood
Spot primer on bare and repaired wood, then two finish coats of exterior enamel.
