walls, trim and ceiling
Purple Painting painted the walls and ceiling of a Santa Barbara dining room in a deep green with a glossy finish. It is color drenching: the walls, ceiling, trim, windows, doors and millwork all in the one deep green, so the colour wraps the whole room.
The room is a converted garage. The ceiling, walls, trim, windows, doors and millwork were primed with an oil-based primer and sprayed in a high gloss, the largest-scale high gloss job we have done, and it was delivered by Christmas for a holiday dinner.
How we did it
-
Patch and sand
Wall openings and imperfections were patched to give an even substrate, then sanded and dusted off.
-
Prime the patches
The newly patched areas were primed with a PVA primer.
-
Power sand the ceiling and walls
The whole ceiling and the walls were power sanded for adhesion and for a flatter, smoother surface, which a high gloss shows up.
-
Full oil-based prime
Ceiling, walls, trim, windows, doors and millwork all got a full coat of oil-based primer.
-
Fine sand and skim patch
Fine sanding and skim patching with a glaze filler, then spot priming on the extra patches and a thorough cleaning.
-
Spray the high gloss
Three to four sprayed coats of high gloss on every prepared surface.
