Client: Plant Construction
Address: 1100 Anacapa Street, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
Type: Public Works
Description: Comprehensive exterior repainting of the historic Santa Barbara Courthouse, completed through a carefully planned five-phase, five-year process. The project included the preparation and coating of all architectural elements—wood windows and doors, ornamental corbels, plaster walls and soffits, and extensive wrought iron details.
As part of the restoration, damaged historical plaster top set was meticulously repaired using traditional lime, cement, and sand mixtures to match the original texture and composition of the 1929 construction. All surfaces were prepared to historic preservation standards, ensuring both aesthetic continuity and long-term protection. Finishes were applied using high-performance, breathable coating systems specifically designed for coastal environments, maintaining the courthouse’s historic integrity while enhancing its durability for decades to come.

Client: Edwards Construction
Type: Public Works
Address: 40 E Anapamu St, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
Description:
This project involved a complete interior renovation performed to 1920s historical standards. All existing wood elements were carefully stripped, bleached, and refinished to achieve a rich brown tone consistent with the original design. The upper plaster wainscoting was artistically faux-finished to complement the newly restored woodwork below, recreating the authentic character of the space. Areas previously covered in carpeted wall panels were replaced with new gypsum board, seamlessly finished and painted. Custom wood trim was added at all vertical corners, replicating details found in the original archival photographs to ensure historical accuracy and visual harmony throughout the space.
