A Santa Barbara condo got a full interior paint refresh, with new wallpaper installed as well. We painted all of the walls, ceilings, doors and casings, the baseboard and crown molding, and the shelving and cabinets in the living room and pantry.
Ceilings were flat everywhere except the bathrooms, where they got eggshell. Doors, casings, baseboard, crown molding, shelving and cabinets were painted in satin.
Every surface got spot priming and two coats. The ceilings and wood were sprayed and the walls brushed and rolled, with the new drywall primed in a pre-work visit before the cabinets went in.
How we did it
-
Mask and prime the new drywall
Everything not being painted was masked, and the new drywall was primed in a pre-work visit before the cabinets went in.
-
Prepare the existing finishes
Existing finishes were prepared for paint to industry standard, and the baseboard and wood trim were patched and caulked as needed.
-
Two coats on every surface
Every surface got spot priming and two coats: walls, ceilings, doors and casings, wood trim, baseboard and crown molding, and the living room cabinets, mantel and shutters. Ceilings and wood were sprayed, and walls were brushed and rolled.
-
Return for the baseboard
The wood baseboard was done on a return visit once the floors were finished.
-
Hang the bathroom wallpaper
Wallpaper was added in the primary and hallway bathrooms as a change order.
