A Santa Barbara house with tan and taupe walls was repainted inside. The scope covered two bedrooms, the hallway, the hallway bathroom door, the kitchen and the living room: the walls, baseboards, doors and frames, and the wood windows and frames.
The walls were painted flat and the trim semi-gloss, in one coat. We also painted the interior side of the French doors and transoms at the back entries and the cabinet panel above the refrigerator, and filled the damaged wood at a back entry door before painting.
How we do it
-
Protect the house
Items and floors not being painted were masked and covered, carpets were lifted before painting and put back afterwards, and fixtures and hardware being replaced were removed.
-
Scrape, patch and caulk the interior
Loose paint was scraped, drywall holes were spackled, sanded and spot primed, gaps and joints were caulked, and damaged wood trim was repaired with filler.
-
Skim coat damaged walls
Walls damaged by plumbing repairs were skim coated, and all patches were primed, including drywall repair at the kitchen sink.
-
Paint the interior in one colour
One colour on the walls, ceilings, cabinetry and trim: flat on walls and ceilings, satin or semi-gloss on trim, with vanities and the kitchen and bathroom walls in the trim sheen.
