A new custom home on the Santa Barbara Mesa, built by Jed Hirsch General Building Contractor, with Purple Painting as the painting subcontractor. Outside, we painted the Hardie siding, brick veneer, soffits, exposed rafters, fascia, beams, shutters and picket fence, with the exterior metal in epoxy. Change orders added the stucco walls, the foundation and adhesive mortar on the brick.

The AZEK trim was finished in a custom-matched colour in a urethane satin, the front door and the outside of the entry transom and sidelights in satin, and the side doors in exterior eggshell.

How we did it

  1. Pressure wash the stucco walls

The stucco wall was pressure washed before it got its first coat.

  2. Paint the stucco walls

The backyard and front yard stucco walls each got two coats.

  3. Prime and paint the wood fence

The wood picket fence was prepped and primed on both sides, then painted in two coats.

  4. Prime and paint the siding

The Hardie siding was primed and given two coats. A later change order covered repainting the siding walls.

  5. Paint the soffits, rafters and fascia

The wood soffits, exposed rafters and fascia were painted as their own part of the exterior.

  6. Paint the brackets, beams, columns and shutters

The exterior brackets, beams, columns, shutters and flashing were painted along with the rest of the exterior.

  7. Coat the brick

Adhesive mortar went on the exterior brick, then stucco primer, a first coat and a second coat of exterior satin paint.

  8. Prime and paint the foundation

The exterior foundation was primed and painted, with a first and a second coat.

  9. Prime and paint the exterior metal

The exterior metal was primed and given three coats of epoxy.
