A Victorian in Santa Barbara got a full exterior repaint in a soft cream, with pale green on the window frames, doors and soffits. All of the wood siding and trim was painted, including the eaves, overhangs and fascia, the window and door casings, the side entry doors and frames, the electrical conduit on the trellis and the trash enclosure.

The wood window frames and screens, the entry door and its frame, and the entry patio and rear soffits were painted pale green.

How we did it

  1. Pressure wash

Dust, dirt and failing paint were washed off all the surfaces, and the debris and loose paint cleaned up.

  2. Prep the surfaces

All loose and failing paint was removed and bare spots were spot primed with a multipurpose primer for adhesion. Open gaps and joints were caulked, damaged siding was repaired with wood filler or Bondo, patches were sanded to match the existing texture, and all enamelled surfaces were scuff sanded so the topcoat would stick.

  3. Paint the siding

The wood siding body got two coats to achieve the colour change.
