An exterior repaint of a small shingle cottage in Santa Barbara, with a colour change on the body. We pressure washed the house to remove dust, dirt and failing paint, then patched and primed the wood siding where the paint was failing on the south, east and west sides, sanding down ridges and spot priming with a multi-purpose primer. Damaged stucco was patched with stucco patch and damaged wood with filler.
The body then got two coats in the new colour and the eaves and fascia, doors, windows, wood trim and handrail were painted in the same off-white, one coat.
How we did it
-
Pressure wash
The surfaces were washed to remove dust, dirt and failing paint, and the loose paint and debris were cleaned up.
-
Patch and prime failing siding
Where the wood siding paint was failing, it was patched, sanded as smooth as possible and spot primed with a multi-purpose primer.
-
Caulk and patch
Open gaps and joints were caulked, damaged stucco patched and damaged wood filled.
-
Paint the body
All exterior body surfaces got two coats in the new colour.
