When the City of Santa Maria set out to build a new DMV headquarters, they needed a facility that would be both functional and welcoming to the thousands of residents who pass through its doors every year.
Purple Painting was proud to partner with Pac-West Construction to provide the complete painting package for this full ground-up build. From interior offices and service counters to exterior finishes and protective coatings, our crew handled every surface with the attention to detail this high-profile public project demanded.
We coordinated closely with the general contractor to ensure that timelines were met and that every finish aligned with the strict standards of a state facility. Our work not only enhanced the building’s durability but also helped create a professional, approachable space for the community.
This project reflects the core of what we do best: bringing large-scale projects to life with craftsmanship, reliability, and pride.
How we did it
-
Paint the interior walls and ceilings
The new gypsum board walls and ceilings were painted throughout the building.
-
Paint doors, frames and handrails
Interior doors and frames, the handrail at the ramp and the ladder base were painted.
-
Prime the canopy steel
The steel structure of the drive-through and employee patio canopies, including the HSS columns and wide-flange beams, was primed through a change order.
-
Paint the exterior metal
The metal trim cornice, trash enclosure metal decking and steel, and the steel canopy framing were painted.
-
Finish the added items
Change orders added the eggcrate ceiling, the drive-through canopy ceiling, the staff entry canopy, and the gas pipes and bollards.
