A New Custom Home on the Mesa, Santa Barbara: Exterior, Interior and Cabinets

Purple Painting was the painting subcontractor on a new custom home on the Santa Barbara Mesa, built by Jed Hirsch General Building Contractor. Its nine pages are collected here.

Outside, we painted the Hardie siding, brick veneer, soffits, exposed rafters, fascia, beams, shutters and picket fence, with the exterior metal in epoxy. Change orders added the stucco walls, the foundation and adhesive mortar on the brick. Inside, we painted the walls, ceilings, beams, baseboard, and window and door trim to the designer's finish schedule, with one white as the standard and a second white in the primary suite.

Much of the millwork was stain grade, and each stained piece has its own page: the primary bath vanity, hand-finished in a custom glaze worked piece by piece against the approved sample; the kitchen island; the built-ins in the primary suite's his closet; the office bookshelves and wainscoting; the built-in beside the living room fireplace; and the cabinet under the mudroom window. The mudroom's tall cabinet towers were painted, and their page also shows the stained bench and bottom cubbies.
