  • Custom Wood Stain

    kitchen island

A new custom home on the Santa Barbara Mesa, built by Jed Hirsch General Building Contractor. The kitchen island was first contracted as paint grade; it was finished in a custom stain instead, worked to the island sample the designer approved.

The island's doors, drawers and frames were masked, prepped and labeled. Where the wood tone differed from piece to piece, a base coat of stain evened it out, then a base coat went on throughout, followed by a sealing coat. The pieces were evened out again where needed for a uniform final coat of custom stain, and two coats of clear went over it.
