A new custom home on the Santa Barbara Mesa, built by Jed Hirsch General Building Contractor. For the upstairs primary bath we hand-finished the vanity in a custom glaze, working each door, drawer and frame against the sample the designer approved.
The vanity was sealed first, then the custom stain glazes were worked piece by piece to match the approved sample. The wainscot, trim and medicine cabinets in the bathroom were painted in satin.
How we did it
-
Mask, prep and label
The vanity doors, drawers and frames were masked and prepped, and every piece was labeled so it went back where it came from.
-
Seal the wood
The wood was sealed first so the custom stain glazes would not bleed through.
-
Apply the custom glaze
A uniform custom stain glaze went on the doors, drawers and frames.
-
Match each piece to the approved sample
Each door, drawer and frame was worked individually against the approved sample, using five different custom glazes, each piece needing its own process.
