living room built-in
A new custom home on the Santa Barbara Mesa, built by Jed Hirsch General Building Contractor. The built-in cabinet beside the living room fireplace was first contracted as paint grade; it was finished in a custom stain instead, in the natural sample the designer approved, the same sample as the primary bath vanity.
Over three days the cabinet was sanded and stained, then sealed in clear. The office doors were later stained to match it.
How we did it
-
Mask and sand
The area around the cabinet was taped and papered, and the cabinet was sanded for stain.
-
Custom stain
The cabinet was stained in the natural custom stain the designer approved.
-
Seal with clear
A clear sealer went over the stain.
