The roof was being replaced on building 500s and 600s. We primed and painted all associated downpipes, steel members, and gas pipes were painted yellow. The steel members needed a lot of grinding, sanding, and overall love. The downpipes and gas pipes were finished by setting up a spray area at the school.

How we did it

  1. Grind, sand and prep the steel

The steel members coming through the new roof needed a lot of grinding and sanding before any coating went on.

  2. Prime and paint the steel members

The prepared steel members were primed and painted, along with the other exposed metalwork not prefinished.

  3. Set up a spray area for the pipes

The downpipe hanger assemblies and gas pipes were prepped and finished in a spray area set up at the school, with the downpipe hangers painted to match the prefinished metal.

  4. Paint the rooftop gas pipes yellow

The rooftop gas pipes and their components were prepped and painted yellow per the paint specification.

  5. Paint the pull box and plaster wall

The new exterior pull box was painted to match the building, and the existing cement plaster wall and drip screed were primed with a masonry bonding primer and painted.
