Wallpaper Removal

Wallpaper removal can be a tedious and messy process, but it is an essential step before applying fresh paint. While some may consider painting over the wallpaper as a quick fix, we do not recommend it as it can result in peeling seams. At Purple Painting, we use a thorough wallpaper removal process that involves scoring the surface to create holes and applying DIF, an enzyme activator that loosens the wallpaper adhesive behind the paper. The paper is then manually scraped off, and if it still does not come off (depending on the type of adhesive used), the walls may need to be steamed using a wallpaper steamer. Once all the wallpaper is removed, we prepare the walls by skim coating them for a smooth surface ready for painting or new wallpaper installation.
