Kitchen Cabinets and Interior Repaint, Santa Barbara
Santa Barbara
Purple Painting did a complete interior repaint of a home in Santa Barbara, including all interior walls, and converted the previously stained kitchen cabinets to a paint-grade finish. The cabinets were sanded, primed with an oil-based primer and finished with a sprayed coating. Fronts and drawers were painted on both sides, the cabinet boxes on the outside only.

A new Santa Barbara resident with a strong sense of design set out to refresh their home’s interior with a complete repaint. The project introduced rich, inviting colors throughout all interior walls and transformed the previously stained kitchen cabinets into a sleek, modern paint-grade finish. The cabinets were carefully sanded, primed with an oil-based primer, and finished with a smooth, durable sprayed coating for a refined, designer-quality result. Cabinet fronts and drawers were painted on both sides and the cabinet boxes on the outside only.
How we do it
-
Mask the kitchen
The range hood, oven and everything not being painted were masked off before spraying.
-
Sand the stained cabinets
The previously stained cabinets were sanded so the primer would hold.
-
Prime with an oil-based primer
An oil-based CoverStain primer went on to convert the stained wood to a paint-grade finish.
-
Spray the finish coats
A smooth, durable sprayed coating went on. Fronts and drawers were painted on both sides, the cabinet boxes on the outside only.
-
Dry the doors on racks
Doors were laid out to dry on a rolling rack in a covered area while the frames were finished in place.
