A full exterior repaint of the former Magic Castle Cabaret building in Santa Barbara, taking the tan stucco to white and the trim to blue. The stucco body and wood eaves were painted white in a flat exterior paint. The downspouts and pipes, wood doors and metal chimney caps got the same colour in satin.
The window trim and fascia, the gutters and metal flashing and the stucco trim on the tower were painted blue in a satin exterior paint, and the decorative wrought iron got a gloss urethane enamel in the same blue.
We also did interior work at the building. Because of the privacy of the establishment, we can’t show photos of it.
How we did it
-
Pressure wash
The whole exterior was pressure washed first.
-
Patch, sand, spot prime and caulk
The exterior was fully prepared: patching, sanding, spot priming and caulking, with the gutters, downspouts and pipes primed too.
-
Paint the stucco body and eaves
The stucco and masonry, downspouts and wood eaves got two coats, with a colour change throughout.
-
Paint the trim, fascia and flashings
The wood fascia, metal roof flashings and six wood window frames were painted in two coats.
-
Paint the doors and rooftop items
The side entry doors, main entry door, rooftop vents and caps and the AC utility box were painted, the vents and box in the body colour.
-
Cut in the wrought iron
The decorative wrought iron and its plywood backing at the front entry and side were cut in and painted.
-
Paint the dividing wood fence
A change order added the dividing wood fence, which was pressure washed, primed and given two coats on one side to match the building.
