Purple Painting painted the new pool bar at La Cumbre Country Club in Santa Barbara, for the general contractor Schipper Construction. The original scope covered the new building's interior gypsum board walls and ceilings, its doors and door frames, the wood wrap at the patio roof steel beam, the roof eaves around the new kitchen (rafters, decorative rafter tails, tongue-and-groove soffits and the downspout) and the new exterior plaster wall.

Change orders added the covered patio bar: the new tongue-and-groove ceilings and exposed rafters, and the stucco on the existing building. Later additions included pressure washing the perimeter walls, painting the plaster columns, the new door and frame at the patio entry, the plywood under the bar tops, the staircase railings and trash enclosure, and a contrasting stripe stained on the concrete stairs and curb, as well as the interior of the existing kitchen.

How we did it

  1. Pressure wash the walls

The perimeter walls were pressure washed before painting.

  2. Paint the plaster

The new exterior plaster wall and the stucco of the existing building were painted, along with the plaster columns.

The new tongue-and-groove ceilings and the exposed rafters over the patio bar were painted, and so was the plywood under the bar tops.

  5. Paint the interior

The gypsum board walls and ceilings were primed and painted, along with the doors and door frames and the interior of the existing kitchen.

  6. Finish the details

The new door and frame at the patio entry, the staircase railings and the trash enclosure were painted, and a contrasting stripe was stained on the concrete stairs and curb.
