A Goleta home being made ready for sale was repainted for the realtor Kit Peterson of Kit Peterson Real Estate, and the biggest item was the kitchen cabinets. We painted all of the kitchen cabinets, inside and out, changing them to an off white. The floors and counters were covered with paper, tape and plastic, and the cabinet doors and drawer fronts were taken off and painted on tables, in a plastic-sheeted work area and outdoors, while the frames were painted in place.
The same job also covered the living room wainscoting, which got two coats of off-white enamel to match the baseboards, a living room wall and a dining room wall, the two bedrooms with painted stripes (spot primed, spot painted and then a final coat on all the walls), and touch-ups to the baseboards, doors and eaves. The photos show the prep and painting stages.
How we did it
-
Mask the kitchen
Floors and counters were covered and the cabinet frames masked with paper, tape and plastic before painting.
-
Paint the cabinets inside and out
All the kitchen cabinets were painted inside and out, changing them to an off white. Doors and drawer fronts were painted off the frames on tables, then left to dry.
-
Finish the frames and crown
The cabinet frames and the crown moulding were painted in place to match.
-
Paint the living room wainscoting
The wood wainscoting in the living room was prepared and finished with two coats of off-white enamel to match the baseboards.
